Job Title: DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Reports To: Director of Development
Position Summary
The Development Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the donor database, coordinating printing and mailing of appeals, investigating grant opportunities with foundations, assisting the Director of Development in the day-to-day administrative tasks such as running donor reports and preparing thank you letters and gift acknowledgements. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the special events of JVC Northwest in our major fundraising territories of Seattle and Portland, as well as in smaller cities throughout the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Development Coordinator responsibilities include:
- Maintain the JVC Northwest database of donors in coordination with the business coordinator;
- Assist in creating policy and procedure protocols for development efforts;
- Preparation of thank you notes, letters and gift acknowledgements;
- Assist in preparing donor reports;
- Coordinate printing and mailing of four annual appeals with the designer, printer and mail coordinator;
- Investigate grant opportunities for JVC Northwest;
- Coordinate the event planning for benefit events in Seattle, Portland and in other cities throughout the Northwest region, i.e. Yakima, Spokane, Anchorage, Billings;
- Oversee event logistics including creation of invitation list; oversight of invitation design, printing and mailing; registration tracking; and event publicity;
- Organize and facilitate committees for each benefit event;
- In partnership with event committees and Director of Development, identify, contact and secure sponsorships for each event;
- In partnership with event committee and Director of Development, identify, contact and secure a matching grant for each event;
- In partnership with event committee and Director of Development, identify, contact and secure table captains;
- In partnership with Area Directors, recruitment of Jesuit Volunteers to help at the events;
- Perform other duties as requested by Director of Development;
Qualifications
The Development Coordinator will have the following:
- Well developed organizational abilities and skills;
- 2+ years working in an office setting, preferably in a development position;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
- Previous experience with data bases (helpful);
- Excellent writing and communication skills (preferred);
- Friendly and welcoming interpersonal skills;
- Desire and ability to work in small, collaborative office;
- Ability to work independently and with others;
- Bachelors degree preferred.

Job Title: Director of Development
The Director of Development designs, oversees, and evaluates all fundraising strategies to address annual operations, long-term capital and endowment needs, and other mission-critical objectives. The JVC’s annual budget approaches $3 million. Most of the yearly budget is targeted to select, train, place, and support the volunteers, and is raised through the generosity of foundation grants and personal donations, with less than 20% provided by assessment fees paid by the agencies where our volunteers serve. The Director of Development is responsible for managing the development staff, overseeing the full range of development efforts, and cultivating relationships with all the constituents of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, including current and former volunteers, their families and friends, and other individual and institutional donors. The Director coordinates public relations to enhance support for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. The Director of Development ensures that fundraising strategies fulfill donors’ wishes while meeting the needs of the organization as directed by the President and the Board of Directors.
